My Tips For Your Trip To Paris

Paris is obviously a beautiful and iconic destination, but with its popularity comes some stress. While it is an incredible place to experience, there are a lot of factors that can damper it. While I only spent 24 hours in the city, I have spent so much time researching the pros and cons of other people’s trips to learn from. So here are some tips that I think will have you some time and headaches.

1. Go to Rue de I’Université right after sunrise

This is the name of the street shown in the third picture from the left and is one of the prettiest spots to see the Eiffel Tower. But unfortunately, most people agree with me, making this one of the most popular picture spot in the city. Before my trip, I had heard is is slightly more spacious in the morning so we decided to test the theory. We visited the street right after sunset and it was EMPTY! (plus the lighting for photos was fantastic) Yes its early, but it is so worth it!

2. Plan dinner time around when the Eiffel Tower sparkles

As France adds to their sustainability goal, the Eiffel Tower no longer sparkles constantly from dusk to dawn. It now sparkles for the first five minutes of every hour from dusk to 11pm. If this is something you want to see, make sure to arrange your dinner plan to line up with the time you need watch the 5 minute unforgettable experience.

3. Visit places with no entry fee

Traveling to popular cities can get expensive quick and there are some iconic places in Paris you have to visit. But there are lots of amazing places to visit nearby that don’t require an entry fee. My favorites are:

  • Champ de Mars- The public park underneath the Eiffel Tower is a great place to watch it sparkle

  • Luxembourg Gardens- gorgeous statues, fountains, and greenery. Has a beautiful view of the Panthenon and tons of outdoor seating

  • Rue Crémieux- like Rainbow Row in Charleston. Cars are not allowed on the street so it is fun to walk around

4. Download the “Bolt” taxi app

All of Paris is walkable but some distances are more convenient to take by car, but do not rent one!!! Traffic in Paris is beyond chaotic and parking is very limited. Bolt is an app with the exact concept of Uber but it is a more popular and cheaper option. Highly recommend using this option for times you don’t want to walk. (Public transportation is a bit cheaper but there are a lot of risks with the current union strikes)
