Dahlonega, GA: A Blissful Blend of Adventure and Rest

Most travel destinations embody a certain personality; making you choose between adventure and rest. A trip can consist of hiking, surfing, and touring around a city or can be filled with naps, reading, and relaxation. One of my favorite parts of visiting Dahlonega, Georgia was that I could have both! The setup of this north Georgia town mixed with my lodging selection provided the ultimate opportunity to get the best of both travel worlds (truely a hannah montana destination). Although my trip was brief and I didn’t visit every “hot spot” location in the area, I want to share some of my favorite parts of Dahlonega and why I think it’s so special.

But it would be a disservice to write this article without providing the details of the INCREDIBLE airbnb I stayed in. Between the seclusion of the positioning, accessibility to the town, kind hosts, and the luxury amenities for an affordable price, I am already wanting to go back!

Lake Zwerner: Known for its iconic sunset landscape, this lake has multiple viewing spots that all provide a different perspective of this gorgeous body of water. There is a bridge, picnic tables, dock, and even an easy walking trail around its perimeter. It’s a great place to pass the time and soak up the tranquility of the area.

Dahlonega Tasting Room: If you are wanting to indulge in the vineyard filled region of north georgia, but not necessarily spend your dollars on a $50 tasting flight, this place is for you! The sweet owner has local options of diverse wines and meads and even a cute collection of home decor.

Desoto Falls: This is the perfect trail to leisurely walk outside along babbling brooks and see some beautiful waterfalls! There are two viewing points both with different length trails for some options. I recommend doing both because that barely adds up to two miles, but it’s nice that you get to choose (you’re not stuck on a long trail and forced to finish). The surrounding recreation area is also one of the most well kept camping areas I have seen, you can find more information about the site here.

More of my favorite spots in town

Bourbon Street Grille: New Orleans style restaurant

Picnic Cafe & Dessertery: AMAZING pastries

Bear Necessities: an adorable and delicious cafe that serves breakfast and lunch

Spirits Tavern: a classic “tavern” place known for its burgers
