Is Sevilla The Best City To Visit In Spain?

Short answer: YES! I have always wanted to visit Spain and have done a ton of research on which areas truly encompass the heart of the country and are best for anyone’s first trip to Spain. After my trip, this immediately became one of my favorite destinations. So here are some of the places that make Sevilla the perfect city to visit on your trip to Spain!

Plaza de España

This beautiful plaza is over 100 years old and presents stunning examples of Spanish renaissance and baroque art. It is also adjacent to Maria Luisa Park: an iconic outdoor area with views right out of a fairytale. Both have free entry and are perfect locations for an afternoon picnic.

Setas de Sevilla

This was a view like nothing I have ever seen before. “Setas” is actually Spanish for mushroom, the name coming from the unique shape of the structure. It is super cool to see it during the day but it does not compare to how it looks at night. The lights come on shortly after sunset and change color to create a spectacular show. You can also see the cathedral lit up behind it so its a stop you are not going to want to miss!

Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla

I mean, how many times do you have the opportunity to visit a bullfighting ring?! Although I had no desire to watch a bull flight, I do think it is such a unique part of the local culture. This particular location is the largest bullfighting ring in all of Spain. Your ticket also includes access to the museum and chapel inside.

Cathedral of Sevilla

This incredibly detailed building is the third largest church in the world! There are countless amount of religious artifacts and historical pieces that will amaze you. Buy the ticket that comes with the audioguide because you are going to want to know the background of everything. You can also climb the bell tower to get a 360° view of the entire city. This photo is the real tomb of Christopher Columbus, it will leave you speechless.

Flamenco Theaters

There are many beautiful kinds of hispanic based dances, but flamenco has to be one of my favorites. The city of Sevilla is one of the birthplaces of this art form, making it an authentic and unforgetable experience for any traveler. There are many theaters that provide incredible and affordable productions.

Real Alcázar of Sevilla

This building has existed since 913 AD and has since been a Moorish and Spanish Palace, the influences of both being evident throughout its architecture. This one of the most popular places to visit in Sevilla and will blow you away with its intricacy.
